What are the major decisions of ICAI?
1. You can opt out of the exam IF you or your family (residing with you) has suffered from COVID -19 on or after 15th April 2021. This should be certified by a Registered Medical Practitioner (RTPCR not needed if such certificate is produced).
You can opt out if you are suffering from COVID-19 or due to COVID, you were unable to prepare for your exam. If the above applies to you, you will be permitted to appear in the next exam (November 2021), whether old or new syllabus.
2. If due to lockdown during the exam, you are unable to attempt the exam,
- You can opt out and July 2021 attempt will not be considered.
- You can appear in November 2021, whether old or new syllabus.
3. If you get COVID-19 in the middle of exams, and hence, are unable to attempt the exam,
- You can opt out and July 2021 attempt will not be considered.
- You can appear in November 2021, whether old or new syllabus.
4. If you opt out of one exam in the middle of the group, you cannot appear for the remaining exams.
5. If you appear for the first group fully and before the second group exams get over, you opt out (of an exam in the second group),
- Your first group result will be published.
- Opt out will apply to only your second group.
6. If the exam can’t be held in any examination center or city (due to Govt. restrictions or exam center in containment zone), and your exam center gets changed last-minute,
- You can opt out and July 2021 attempt will not be considered.
- You can appear in November 2021, whether old or new syllabus.
Is opt out available for CA exams?
Yes, opt out is available if –
- You/ your family (living with you) suffered from COVID-19 on or after 15th April 2021.
- Your place of residence is under lockdown.
- You get COVID-19 in the midst of exams.
- There is last-minute change of examination center (due to Govt. restrictions or exam center in containment zone).
What does it mean for old syllabus students?
The July 2021 attempt is the last attempt available for old syllabus. Only if you are eligible to opt out of the July attempt, and you have so opted out, will you be granted an extension until November 2021 attempt.
